CONVERSATION AS AN ENCOUNTER

Abstract

In the book Libro Blanco de la conversación, the authors analyse the conversation as a social, linguistic, philosophical and sociological phenomenon, but above all, as the main constituent of the social self.

Seven academics regain the deepest meaning of this term and take it to a necessary and crucial debate to the communication field.

The conversation is not only a set of communication skills, but also social interaction which develops the ability to improve personal relationships. For this reason, the conversation demands to interweave acceptance, inclusion and argumentation in order to build a genuine sense of shared purpose.

Accordingly, the writers, engaged in a meaningful conversation, moulded the core components of this cooperative work.
